The tropical paradise of Sri Lanka is considered a jewel in the Indian Ocean and is as colorful and diverse as its nature. See on the tour of Sri Lanka we have unique cultural highlights and lots of nature, impressive mountain landscapes in the interior and an Ayurvedic treatment on the
Southwest coast of Sir Lanka. Most tours start in the Island capital Colombo. From here we head into the hinterland, where the island’s most important cultural and natural treasures are located. attracts culture lovers mainly to the royal cities of Kandy, Polonnaruwa. Another highlight of every Sri Lanka trip is a visit to the island most memorable cultural site: the Sigiriya rock fortress. The central mountainous region with its deep gorges also offers many historical places Sightseeing attractions. The so-called Cultural Triangle is formed by the cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Dambulla and Sigiriya.
Here you can admire numerous ancient sites and Buddhist shrines. A visit to the Yala National Park, the oldest nature reserve in Sri Lanka, as well as a week of Ayurveda treatment complete the tour.

 

Day 1: Arrival in Colombo – Drive to Sigiriya

Upon arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by your tour guide. From here, we will begin our journey to Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its ancient rock fortress. After checking in at Hotel Royal Rock Sigiriya, take some time to relax and unwind.
Later, enjoy an immersive village safari in a TUK TUKox cart, and boat, offering a glimpse into the daily life of rural Sri Lanka. Experience the serene countryside and its charming traditions. As the day winds down, we’ll enjoy a peaceful sunset with a cup of tea and snacks.

Day 2: Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, and Back to Hotel

After breakfast, we begin our day by climbing the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress (Lion’s Rock) at an early hour. We ascend via stone steps and a narrow spiral staircase to reach the rock wall, where we can admire the world-famous 1,500-year-old frescoes depicting the mystical cloud girls. At the top of the 182-meter-high rock plateau, we are rewarded with breathtaking views over the surrounding jungle – a sight you will never forget! Afterward, we drive to Polonnaruwa, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka during its “Golden Era” in the 11th century. Here, we explore the ruins of palaces, shrines, and temples, including the imposing statue of King Parakramabahu I, the builder of this mighty city. In the evening, we return to Sigiriya.

Day 3: Sigiriya, Dambulla, Matale, and Kandy

 
Today, we continue our journey towards Kandy, with a stop in the town of Dambulla to visit the unique cave temples. A stone staircase leads us up the mountain to the temple, which, though seemingly modest from the outside, reveals its true beauty and uniqueness inside. The inner rock is decorated with vibrant wall paintings, making this site a true marvel. After exploring this UNESCO World Heritage site, we continue our drive towards Kandy. Along the way, we visit a spice garden in Matale, where we learn about Sri Lanka’s famous spice production. Finally, we arrive in Kandy, the last royal city of Sri Lanka. It was here that the Sinhalese kingdom came to an end with the British conquest in 1815, marking the close of a 2,000-year-long reign. Today, Kandy is the third-largest city in Sri Lanka and a spiritual center for Buddhism. We visit the Temple of the Tooth, which houses the revered tooth relic of Buddha, before enjoying a performance of the famous Kandy dances to conclude our day.

Day 4: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

Today, we leave Kandy and embark on a scenic drive to Nuwara Eliya. Along the way, we visit the renowned Peradeniya Botanical Garden, one of the most fascinating gardens in the world, home to a wide variety of exotic plants. As we continue our journey, we pass through the stunning mountains of the highlands, eventually reaching Nuwara Eliya, a charming resort town with an English colonial atmosphere, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,900 meters. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea industry, where some of the world’s finest tea is grown. On our way, we witness the colorful tea pickers at work, as Ceylon highland tea is known for being among the best in the world. Nuwara Eliya is also home to one of Asia’s most famous golf courses. We conclude our day with an overnight stay and dinner at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya to Udawalawa via                  Ella

We depart from Nuwara Eliya and drive to Nanu Oya, where we board a train to Ella. The train ride is a highlight of the day, as it winds its way up steep mountain slopes and rattles over deep gorges. Often regarded as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, this scenic trip offers breathtaking views and a unique experience. Upon arriving in Ella, we continue our journey to Udawalawa, stopping for a brief visit to the Rawana Waterfall. Afterward, we proceed to our accommodation in Udawalawa. We end the day with an overnight stay and dinner at the hotel in Udawalawa.

Day 6: Udawalawa Safari and Galle to Beruwala

Today, we start the day with an exciting morning safari through Udawalawa National Park. The park is renowned for its elephant gatherings, and we may also spot a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, crocodiles, and various species of birds. After the safari, we return for breakfast before continuing our journey to Beruwala for an Ayurveda treatment focusing on healing and food. On the way, we stop to visit the historic city of Galle, once a colonial stronghold and home to the largest surviving European fortress in South Asia. The Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is in excellent condition and offers a glimpse into the island’s colonial past. From Galle, we continue our drive south towards Beruwala.
